Clark, Executive Director Megan Cordoma, DAG CALL TO ORDER The regular monthly meeting of the Acupuncture Examining Board was called to order at 124 Halsey Street at 10:00 a.m., all members having been notified of the time, date and, place and materials pertinent hereto having been provided. SUNSHINE LAW In compliance with Chapter 231 the Public Law of 1975, notice of this was sent to the Courier-Post and the Record. II. MINUTES Board approved minutes with amendments. Motion made by Edith Lee, and seconded by Roger Rossi, motion passed by unanimous vote. III. Physician Training Program Dr. Rossi is presently reviewing schools on list, and will report back to the board at a later date. IV. Regulatory Analyst Regulatory analyst Charles Manning will amend regulations as directed by board and have them prepared for board review at a later date. V. Application Review Janna Rome Board review of Ms. Rome’s application shows that although her acupuncture training is acceptable her baccalaureate degree does not meet regulation requirements. Application for certification as an acupuncturist is denied. Motion made by Roger Rossi, seconded by Barbara Montana, motion passed by unanimous vote. VI. Correspondence (a) Irina Roytman requests information from the Board. Board determines that it cannot render an opinion on homeopathy because it is not within our statues and it is outside the board’s jurisdiction. However, an acupuncturist may practice acupuncture and/ or Chinese herbology as per N.J.A.C. 13:35-9.9. Motion made by Barbara Montana, seconded by Roger Rossi, motion passed by unanimous vote. (b) Follow-up correspondence from Hillary Kern, MD. Dr. Hillary Kern wrote seeking clarification as to whether the following acupuncture programs for physician training were approved by the board: American College of Acupuncture, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, NY College of TCM. The board acknowledged that the American College of Acupuncture was previously approved by the board and continues to be so approved. The board voted to approve SUNY Downstate Medical Center and the NY College TCM. Motion made by Edith Lee and seconded by Nita. Motion passed by unanimous vote. Motion made to go into Executive Session to discuss complaints by Edith Lee, and seconded by Roger Rossi, motion carried by unanimous vote.
