LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT EXAMINATION I CALL TO ORDER The regularly scheduled meeting of the Committee was called to order at 10:20 am in the Union Conference Room on the third (3rd) floor at 124 Halsey Street, Newark, New Jersey.
OTHERS PRESENT: Michelle Albertson, Deputy Attorney General; James S. Hsu, Executive Director and Margaret Hinkley, Secretary to the Executive Director, Board of Architects. II OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS ACT The statement required by Chapter 231, public laws of 1975, the "Open Public Meetings Act," was read and it was announced that notice of this meeting was prepared in the office of the Board of Architects and mailed to the Secretary of State, the Newark Star Ledger, the Trenton Times, the Camden Courier-Post, the Record and the Atlantic City Press. III APPROVAL OF MINUTES January 16, 2008 ACTION: Mr. Picatagi motioned to approve the minutes as presented. Mr. Sardonia seconded the motion. It passed unanimously. IV ANNOUNCEMENTS Executive Director Hsu distributed an article from the New York Times pertaining to Governor "Corzine is Said to Weigh Cutting 3,000 Jobs and One Department" for committee information. V OLD BUSINESS No business discussed VI NEW BUSINESS A Correspondence Letter dated January 30, 2008 requesting the Committee consider his teaching a summer session in 2007 at George Washington University entitled, "Introduction to Design", authorship of a chapter for a professional standards text; and his attendance at the US ICOMOS Annual Conference in San Francisco, California is attached for Committee review. ACTION: The Committee determined to that inasmuch as there is no regulation for teaching a course or writing an article, no continuing education credits will be awarded. However, the Committee did award continuing education credits to US ICOMOS Annual Conference 7 hrs for April 19, 2007; 4 hrs for April 20, 2007; and 6 hrs for April 21, 2007. VII APPLICATION REVIEW A. New Jersey Test The following individuals have completed their application for certification without examination and will be scheduled to take the New Jersey Test pending approval: Jan Tice ACTION: Mr. Picatagi motioned to approve Ms. Tice to take the NJ test. Mr. Sardonia seconded the motion. It passed unanimously. VIII PUBLIC COMMENTS Seeing no one from the public present, Ms. Young proceeded to the next item on the agenda. IX CONTINUING EDUCATION: A. The following courses have been submitted for the Committee to review and determine credit eligibility. COURSE/SEMINAR 1 Bartlett Tree Experts 2008 Winter Seminar 2 Radical Transformations - A Guide to the Process 3 The following courses/seminars are offered by Rutgers University: b Endangered and Threatened Species of Southern New Jersey - Field Course c Wetland Mitigation Monitoring d Introduction to Wetland Identification e Pond Design, Management and Maintenance f Soil Erosion and Sediment Control g Hydrology of Wetlands h Advanced Wetland Delineation i Stream Restoration Tools & Techniques COURSE/SEMINAR j Keying Out Wetland Plants k Vegetation Identification for Wetland Delineation - Southern Session l Vegetation Identification for Wetland Delineation - Northern Session m Methodology for Delineating Wetlands ACTION: Mr. Picatagi motioned to award the above noted continuing education courses as noted. Mr. Sardonia seconded the motion. It passed unanimously. X EXECUTIVE SESSION At 10:55 am, Mr. Picatagi motioned to go into executive session for the purposes of reviewing the minutes. Mr. Sardonia seconded the motion. It passed unanimously.
