Application Phases and Timeline
Phase I
Current Timeframe: 1-2 weeks
|
Phase I is the estimated time between receipt of a completed application (online or paper) and the Board's initial review of the application and supplemental documentation. Initial review consists of ensuring all documents have been received, but not necessary reviewed. At the conclusion of Phase I, the Board will email you instructions regarding how to complete the Criminal History Record Request process, and advise you of any application deficiencies such as a photo, exam scores, educational evaluation, experience document if applicable, and verification of other jurisdiction licensure if applicable.
|
Phase II Current Timeframe: 5-6 weeks |
Phase II is the estimated time between Phase I and the receipt of your criminal history record results and any remaining application deficiencies. Criminal history record results are provided to the Board by State Police an average 5 weeks from the date of your online submission for the Criminal History Record Request. Statement of Experience review averages 5 weeks from the date of receipt. If you have passed all 4 parts of the National CPA Exam and NASBA has reviewed your education to determine you meet the requirements for licensure, NASBA must transfer your file the NJ Board office. This file will include exam scores, transcript(s), and educational evaluation. Please visit NASBA’s website for their current processing times at
NASBA. Please note Phase II is contingent on applicant action and third party processing times. The estimated timeframe assumes the applicant takes immediate action when notified of application deficiencies.
|
Phase III Current Timeframe: 1 week
|
Phase III is the estimated time between Phase II and when the application is approved.
*Please note, applications with criminal history or requiring additional Board review will add an additional 2-4 weeks to Phase III and is dependent on Board meeting schedules. Upon approval of your application, a congratulations notification and license fee invoice will be emailed to the address provided on your initial application. Once the license fee is paid, your license number will be issued within 1 business day. You should receive your hard copy license in the mail within 10-15 business days. To verify the status of your license and to view your license number, please visit our
verification website. |
