The purpose of the Board is to:

- regulate the practice of massage and body work therapy; and
- ensure that massage and body work therapy is performed in compliance with State law.
The Board protects the public by:
- making sure that massage and body work therapists meet all educational requirements for licensure;
- investigating and prosecuting massage and body work therapists who have broken the state's consumer protection laws; and
- requiring all massage and body work therapists to be licensed by the state and to renew their licenses every two years.
