Seniors who are able to recognize a scam in progress should be made aware of the dangers of
“playing along” to get revenge on the scammer. Seniors may be tempted to play along with a scam, provide false information, and then announce that they knew that it was a scam all along. By “playing along” with a scam, seniors may unwittingly provide personal information and expose themselves to greater numbers of scam calls in the future and find themselves in greater danger of being defrauded in the future.
