Mortuary Science Licensure Application Phases and Timeline

Phase I

Current Timeframe:
1 week

Phase I is the estimated time of reviewing all completed intern requirements. Intern requirements are; all monthly intern reports, all official transcripts, the Academic Qualifying Certificate, a passing score of the National Board examination, jurisprudence examination, and practical examination.

Once reviewed, a licensure application will be emailed to you.


Phase II
Current Timeframe:
4-5 weeks

Phase II is the estimated time between receipt of the completed paper application, the preceptor's Certification of Termination letter, all payments and any other deficiencies.


Phase III
Current Timeframe:
2 weeks

Phase III is the estimated time between Phase II and when the application is approved.

Upon approval of your application and receipt of payment a permission letter will be issued indicating your license number.

You should receive your hard copy license in the mail within 10-15 business days. To verify the status of your registration and to view your registration number, please visit our verification website.






Mortuary Science Intern Application Phases and Timeline

Phase I

Current Timeframe:
1 week

Phase I is the estimated time between receipt of a complete online application and the Board's initial review of the application and supplemental documentation.

At the conclusion of Phase I, the Board will email you and your preceptor an acceptance letter. You will also receive instructions on how to obtain your Qualifying Certificate and a copy of the required monthly intern report.


Phase II
Current Timeframe:
1-2 weeks

Phase II is the estimated time between Phase I and receipt of remaining application deficiencies.

Please note Phase II is contingent on applicant action and third party processing times.


Phase III
Current Timeframe:
1 week

Phase III is the estimated time between Phase II and when the application is approved.

Please note, applications with criminal history or requiring additional Board review can add an additional 4-6 weeks to Phase II.

Upon clearance of payment, an approval letter will be emailed to the applicant and preceptor indicating the intern's registration number. You should receive your intern card through the regular mail within 10-15 business days. To verify the status of your registration and to view your registration number, please visit our verification website.
