P.L. 2019, c. 22 established the Pool and Spa Service Contractors and Pool and Spa Builders and Installers Advisory Committee, under the State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors within the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
The purpose of the Committee is to:
- protect the health, safety and welfare of the people of New Jersey;
- regulate the practice of pool and spa builders and installers and pool and spa service contractors; and
- take action against the unprofessional, improper, unauthorized or unqualified practice of pool and spa building and installation and pool and spa service contracting and guard against unprofessional conduct by the licensed individuals who practice such work.
The Committee protects the public by:
- making sure all pool and spa builders and installers and pool and spa service contractors meet the requirements set by statute;
- investigating and prosecuting pool and spa builders and installers or pool and spa service contractors who break the State's consumer protection laws; and
- requiring all pool and spa builders and installers and pool and spa service contractors to be licensed and to renew their licenses biennially.
