Pharmacy Technician Application Phases and Timeline
Phase I
Current Timeframe: 1-2 weeks

Phase I is the estimated time between receipt of a completed application (online or paper) and the Board's initial review of the application and supplemental documentation. At the conclusion of Phase I, the Board will email you instructions to complete your fingerprints for the background check and advise you of any application deficiencies.

Phase II Current Timeframe: 2- 4 weeks |
Phase II is the estimated time between Phase I and the receipt of your background check results and any remaining application deficiencies. Background check results are provided to the board by our vendor an average 1-3 weeks from the date of your fingerprint appointment. Applications with criminal history or requiring additional board review may add an additional 4-6 weeks to Phase II. Please note Phase II is contingent on applicant action and third party processing times. The estimated timeframe assumes the applicant takes immediate action when notified of application deficiencies.

Phase III Current Timeframe: 1 to 5 business days
|
Phase III is the estimated time between Phase II and when the application is approved. Upon final review and approval of your application, a congratulations letter will be emailed to you which will act as your temporary registration. You should receive your hard copy registration in the mail within 10-15 business days. To verify the status of your registration and to view your registration number, please visit our

Pharmacist by Examination Application Phases and Timeline
Phase I
Current Timeframe: 3-4 weeks

Phase I is the estimated time between receipt of a completed application (online or paper) and the Board's initial review of the application and supplemental documentation. At the conclusion of Phase I, the Board will email you instructions to complete your fingerprints for the background check, and advise you of any application deficiencies. Applicant's School of Pharmacy must provide their official transcript containing date of graduation and degree conferred to NAPB. |
Phase II Current Timeframe: 6-12 weeks

Phase II is the estimated time between Phase I and the receipt of your background check results, any remaining application deficiencies. Background check results are provided to the board by our vendor an average 1-3 weeks from the date of your fingerprint appointment. Once the application has been reviewed by the New Jersey Board and your school has submitted your official transcript to NABP, please contact NABP to complete an application to take your NAPLEX/MPJE examination. Once your transcript is available to the Board, we will retrieve it from NABP and authorize your ATT. Please note Phase II is contingent on applicant action and third party processing times. The estimated timeframe assumes the applicant takes immediate action when notified of application deficiencies and taking the NAPLEX/MPJE upon receiving the ATT.

Phase III
Current Timeframe: 2 weeks
|
Phase III is the estimated time between Phase II and when the application is approved. *Please note, applications with criminal history, failing NAPLEX/MPJE scores or requiring additional board review may add an additional 4-6 weeks to Phase III. Upon final review of your application, an Approval letter indicating you have met all the requirements for licensure and also containing an invoice for your license fee will be emailed to you. Once the license fee is paid, your license number will be issued and you should receive your hard copy license in the mail within 10-15 business days.
