Hormonal Contraceptives Protocol
Pursuant to
P.L. 2023, c. 2, a pharmacist may become authorized to furnish self-administered hormonal contraceptives, without a prescription under a standing order, in accordance with standardized procedures and protocols jointly developed and approved by the Board of Pharmacy and the State Board of Medical Examiners. The State Board of Medical Examiners regulations implementing the Protocol are found at N.J.A.C. 13:35-6.28. The Board of Pharmacy regulations implementing the Protocol are found at N.J.A.C. 13:39-14.1 through 14.7. The Appendices to N.J.A.C. 13:39-14 and other hormonal contraceptives documents for pharmacists are linked below. In order to utilize the Protocol, a pharmacist must upload both the Self-administered Hormonal Contraceptives Affirmation and proof of completion of the required training (either a certificate of course completion issued by the training provider, or a transcript from their NABP CPE Monitor) to their pharmacist MyLicense account. Please note that the CE credits obtained by completing this training may be applied toward the pharmacist’s biennial license renewal CE requirements.

Note: The
"Pharmacist by Reciprocity Application " should only be completed by an applicant who holds an active pharmacist license in good standing, without any restrictions, in another state. The applicant must also have engaged in the practice of pharmacy for a period of at least 1,500 hours within the two-year period immediately preceding the date of application, and meet all the other requirements as outlined in N.J.A.C. 13:39-2A.1. All other applicants seeking licensure as a pharmacist in New Jersey should complete the
"Pharmacist by Examination or Score Transfer Application," and meet all requirements as outlined in N.J.A.C. 13:39-2.1.
To
Reinstate your license from an
"Expired" status, or to Reactivate your license from an
"Inactive" status, begin by logging into your
MyLicense account. Then click on the "Reinstatement" menu choice on the left handside of the screen. Follow the instructions to submit the appropriate application (Reinstatement or Reactivation) online.
Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Intern
Note: Only the following individuals are eligible to submit this application (unless otherwise directed by the Board to do so):
A
"Pharmacy intern" means a person who is employed in an approved pharmacy training site for the purpose of acquiring practical experience and who has first registered for such purposes with the Board pursuant to N.J.S.A. 45:14-48b(2), and who: 1) Has graduated from an ACPE-approved school or college of pharmacy who is making an application for initial licensure as a pharmacist; 2) Has graduated from a school or college of pharmacy in a foreign country that has not been accredited by ACPE or that has not been deemed ACPE-equivalent by ACPE; 3) Has applied to the Board for reciprocal licensure and has not been engaged in the practice of pharmacy for at least 1,500 hours within the two-year period immediately preceding the date of application; or 4) Is a graduate student participating in a post-graduate pharmacy residency program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and who is awaiting initial licensure.
