Proposed Regulation – Board of Nursing

NEWARK – The Board of Nursing has proposed amendments to regulations regarding continuing education requirements for licensed nurses and initial education requirements for advanced practice nurses.

The proposal effectuates P.L. 2017, c. 28 which requires licensed nurses to complete one credit of continuing education on prescription opioid drugs every biennial renewal period.  The law also requires that an advanced practice nurse’s initial education in pharmacology include issues concerning prescription opioid drugs.

The proposed amendments, and information on how to submit a comment by June 19, 2020, can be viewed here.
