Proposed Regulation – State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners,
Art Therapists Advisory Committee

NEWARK – The State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners in consultation with the Art Therapists Advisory Committee (“the Committee”) proposes the initial rules to provide for licensure and regulation of licensed professional and associate art therapists.

P.L. 2015, c. 199 established the Committee, and required professional and associate art therapists to become licensed. The proposed new rules implement P.L. 2015, c.199 by identifying those individuals who are qualified and legally authorized to provide art therapy services and establishing the requisite standards for licensure and the practice of art therapy.

The proposed regulation, and information on how to submit a comment by July 5, 2019, can be viewed on the Division of Consumer Affairs’ website at: https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/Proposals/Pages/art-05062019-proposal.aspx
