Proposed Regulation – Hearing Aid Dispensers Examining Committee

NEWARK – The State Board of Medical Examiners (the Board), as recommended by the Hearing Aid Dispensers Examining Committee, has proposed new rules regarding licensed hearing aid dispensers using telecommunications to provide health care services.

The proposal effectuates P.L. 2017, c. 117 which authorizes health care providers to use telemedicine or telehealth to provide health care services.  The proposed new rules effectuate the statute and set forth Board standards for the use of telemedicine or telehealth to protect the health, safety, and welfare of patients.

The proposed amendments, and information on how to submit a comment by July 19, 2019, can be viewed on the Division’s website at: https://www.njconsumeraffairs.gov/Proposals/Pages/had-05202019-proposal.aspx
