On January 8, 2024, Governor Murphy signed into law P.L. 2023, c. 237, which, among other things: amended the Contractors’ Business Registration Act (“CBRA,” formerly the “Contractors’ Registration Act”), N.J.S.A. 56:8-136 et seq., and created the “Home Improvement and Home Elevation Contractor Licensing Act,” N.J.S.A. 45:5AAA-1 et seq. Proposed Regulation – Elevator, Escalator, and Moving Walkway Mechanics Licensing Board


NEWARK – The Elevator, Escalator, and Moving Walkway Mechanics Licensing Board has proposed amendments to supervision requirements for unlicensed individuals providing elevator, escalator, and moving walkway services.

The proposed amendments clarify supervision requirements for specific devices. The proposal also requires a licensee to be on site when an unlicensed person performs testing associated with a Department of Community Affairs inspection on commercial property.
