Proposed Regulation – Cemetery Board

NEWARK – The Cemetery Board has proposed amendments to regulations governing a cemetery company’s annual report to the Board.

The proposed amendments require cemetery companies which are registered with the Division of Consumer Affairs as charitable organizations to submit to the Board their charitable organization annual financial reports.  Cemetery companies will also be required to submit the most recently filed Internal Revenue Form 990.  Cemetery companies which are not registered charities will be required to report on gross revenue, expenses, amounts in operating accounts, and the name and address of institutions at which accounts are held.

The proposed amendments and information on how to submit a comment by October 18, 2019, can be viewed on the Division of Consumer Affairs’ website here.
