Proposed Regulation – Division of Consumer Affairs

NEWARK – The Division of Consumer Affairs has proposed amendments to rules regarding scope of practice for licensed audiologists.

The proposal effectuates P.L. 2019, c. 41, which permits licensed audiologists to dispense and fit hearing aids as long as they have completed coursework and clinical training in dispensing and fitting of hearing aids which meets requirements established by the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Advisory Committee. The Committee has determined that all audiology education programs contain coursework and clinical training that prepares graduates to dispense and fit hearing aids.  The proposed amendments allow every licensed audiologist to dispense and fit hearing aids.

The proposed amendments, and information on how to submit a comment by December 4, 2020, can be viewed here.
