SCAM ALERT
The Division of Consumer Affairs (Division) is warning all licensed professionals about individuals impersonating New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs (DCA) investigators, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents, DEA investigators, New Jersey Drug Control Unit investigators, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigators, and other law enforcement personnel, as part of an extortion scheme.

The impersonators are contacting licensees by telephone or letter, stating that they are the subject of an investigation. The callers are demanding money to clear up the matter, or threatening to revoke the individual’s license. Please be advised that the Division of Consumer Affairs will not contact licensees by telephone to discuss investigations or demand money.

Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be any of the above mentioned individuals seeking money, should refuse the demand. We encourage you to report the call to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. You may also report the call to the Division at AskConsumerAffairs@lps.state.nj.us.

Waiver of On Location Face-to-Face Contact With and Observation of Occupational Therapy Assistant
On July 29, 2020, the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs issued Administrative Order 2020-14 and Waiver 2020-13, which waives on location face-to-face contact with and observation of licensed occupational therapy assistants. Licensed occupational therapists supervising licensed occupational therapy assistants will still need to have contact with and observe assistants, but such contact and observation may be provided via telephonic or other two-way, real-time communication methods with a voice component. This waiver applies only to those occupational therapy assistants who have practiced as occupational therapy assistants full-time for more than one year. If you are a supervising licensed occupational therapist or licensed occupational therapy assistant, please read and familiarize yourself with the requirements of Administrative Order 2020-14 and Waiver 2020-13.

  • All official transcripts sent directly from the school
  • Verification of Field Work Experience sent directly from the school
  • Certicate of Good Morale Character Form
  • All official license verifications sent directly from the state that has issued the license
  • Any name change documents

To check the status of your application, please to go to NJConsumerAffairs.gov/Pages/licensingboards.aspx 

  • Click #4 “Check Status of an Aplication” (This will allow you to view the status of your pending application online.).
  • Use the same log in and password you created when you completed the online application. 
  • You may now view items as they are received, and checked off on your pending application.
